BlogJet 1.6 (will be released soon) will have the advanced Insert Link window.

First of all, you can assign titles to your links (Jacob Nielsen would love it! See Weblog Usability: The Top Ten Design Mistakes, 4th mistake). Title attribute usually shows up as a hint in visual browsers: try me.

Secondly, you can use rel attribute. In blogs this attribute is mostly used in two ways:

1. If you assign nofollow to it, the web site that you linked to won’t benefit (in terms of search engines rank) from having a link on your blog (use it to link to bad sites ).
2. If you assign tag to it, the link becomes a tag for your post. For example: blogjet, features, software, blogging, links, nielsen. (More about tags: Technorati Help).

Get ready to better linking with BlogJet 1.6!

When posting with BlogJet, some blogging platforms didn’t send pings to web sites in their default ping list (for example, WordPress). To ping these sites, you had to type in the URLs manually. The upcoming version of BlogJet will have Default Ping URLs list:

and you’ll have an option to ping web sites in this list when sending your posts.

 Isn’t it easy already? Did you try BlogJet? It easy, very easy to insert images in your posts with BlogJet: as easy as in Microsoft Word.

If your blogging platform supports MetaWeblog’s API method to upload files, you already have this feature. If not, just configure your FTP server. And Flickr integration coming soon…

There are a lot of improvements of the Insert Image window in the upcoming version of BlogJet. First of all, one of the most requested feature… ta-da-da-dam!..

BlogJet 1.6 will come with free Flickr plugin that’s integrated into Insert Image window:

Type in your login, click “Get Photos” and receive your four recently uploaded pictures. You can click Next or Previous buttons to get more pictures, or select a photo to insert it to your post. Layout and Picture Size options are available for Flickr photos too.

Next improvement: Save as default checkbox. If you select it, BlogJet will save your layout settings (and Flickr login), and the next time you open this window you won’t have to enter them again. Flickr plugin shares the same default settings with File/Web pictures.

Finally, see this small magnifier icon on image? Now when you create thumbnail in BlogJet, it automatically inserts this icon to distinguish thumbnails from ordinary pictures. Another feature of the upcoming version of BlogJet is protection for your work.

…it happens. With all these bugs in firewalls, unreliable proxies, Windows bugs, maybe BlogJet bugs, there is a small, very small chance that BlogJet freezes when publishing your post.

Upcoming version of BlogJet has the protection against this. Now when you click “Publish”, BlogJet saves your work. And if it freezes, just terminate it. The next time you lauch BlogJet, it will ask you if you want to restore your work:

Here’s the tip on how to post pictures to your WordPress.com with BlogJet 1.5/1.6 beta 1: when creating account in BlogJet, select “Movable Type API” instead of “WordPress”.
